Using the Information Board

The Information Board is a feature introduced in firmware 2.00. When your PS3 is connected to the internet the Information Board “widget” will download the latest PS3-related news headlines and present them on your XMB. It’s kind of like a Google or Yahoo RSS widget.

Activate the Information Board

  1. Go to the Network menu in your XMB and select Information Board[Screenshot]
  2. The widget will expand and present a list of countries. Choose a relevant country[Screenshot]
  3. The latest news headlines will be downloaded and shown[Screenshot]. Press up and down on your controller to choose a news headline. Pressing the controller’s X button on a headline will open the PS3’s web browser and load the full news item
  4. When you exit the Board, the widget will shrink to a single line and scroll the headlines while you use the XMB menus

Turn off the Board

If you don’t want the news items displayed all the time you can disable the Board. This might also help if your XMB is pausing/freezing briefly when the headlines are downloaded.

  1. Go to the options of the Information Board by pressing the Triangle button on it in the Network menu
  2. Choose Do not display[Screenshot]

I have a question about the using the internet with the PS3, is there any way to clear the texts/http address that you input when you use the search internet icon?
