We recommend keeping your PS3 system software (also referred to as firmware) up-to-date. System updates often include new features, stability improvements, additional game support, or security patches.
The easiest way to perform an update is when your PS3 is connected to the Internet (see below). It is also possible to download updates on your Internet-connected PC/Mac and transfer to removable media.
Update via Internet
- Go to the Settings menu in XMB (Xross Media Bar)
- Select System Update

- Select Update via Internet

- You will get a message if your system is already up-to-date

- Otherwise the update will be downloaded and installed. Please note that this step may take a long time, depending on your internet connection. System updates are about 120MB in size
I have done the update and i now need a password?? What is this??
I have a feeling this isn’t the best spot to ask this but I couldn’t find any other better place so, I was wondering, There are some slots on the front of the ps3 when you flip up that, for lack of a better term, hidden compartment, and I was wondering what they are used for? Thank you if you can help me and sorry to have wasted your time if you cannot
Ninjassin: I’ve got that compartment too, it’s where the memory card slots are (Memory Stick/SD/CompactFlash Slots). If you have one of those cards you can copy photos, videos, etc.
how do i get ma password after updating
