AdvancedAlthough signing up to PSN and creating an account is fairly straightforward, there are numerous steps in the process. Here’s our step-by-step overview guide to creating your first account (a Master Account).
Note: Before you can sign up you may be required to update your system software.
Also the process below may vary depending on your country.
Account sign-up
- To begin, go to the “Playstation Network” menu and choose Sign up for Playstation Network
- Now the account creation begins. Since this is our first time signing up, choose Create a new account
- This screen explains what information you will need to provide during the process. Choose Continue
- Select your country, language and date of birth
- Date of birth determines what account type will be created. If you are 18+, you will get a Master Account. Otherwise you will get a Sub-account. Learn more about accounts.
- See also: countries supported by PSN)
- The terms of service and user agreement / privacy policy will now be shown. Choose Accept
- Enter sign-in information: a valid email address (sign-in ID), password, and security question.
- Enter your desired Online ID
- The online ID will be your publicly viewable username.
- It is not possible to change your online ID once your account is created.
- If you continually get the message “The online ID you entered cannot be used” then it may already be in use. Also, there are keywords that are not allowed – for example having “PS3″ anywhere in the online ID. For more help, see common problems.
- Enter your full name. Choose your gender if you wish (optional)
- Enter your street address (residential address). Country/region is pre-filled by your selection earlier
- Notification preferences. Tick any of the boxes if you’d like to receive marketing from Sony and/or affiliates
- Review the details you’ve entered, then select Confirm
- Account has been created!
- You may be asked to answer a questionare/survey. Choose Yes or No
- Choose an avatar (picture) for your account if you wish. It is easy to change it later at any time.
- Welcome to Playstation Network. You can Proceed to Playstation Store if you want. This will prompt you to Sign In. Exit the Store to return to the XMB menu.
- Now that you have signed up, the Friends menu will have new options like Message Box. You will also be shown here!
Start using your account
- Play online games (e.g. multiplayer modes in LittleBigPlanet or MotorStorm)
- Use Playstation Store (under Network menu) to download demos and videos and purchase games
- Experience Sixaxis motion control

When you log into your PSN account you can see your screen name (online ID) on your Friends list.
i’ve been having a bit of an issue creating my network account….after entering my street address and attempting to continue, i keep getting a message saying please enter a valid address…the address is very much valid….so are the other 2 i tried to use…….all updates have been done so could u explain to me why my address isnt accepted,
I created an account. I live in CANADA but had to us a USA address. Here is what I used as an address. Not what I want but gets my kid on line for now

The same problem with the address, I had try many days but the same can anyone tell me why?…. The address is definely where I am living now (in canada), I am very disappointed and planning to return the PSPGO if it still can not work by tomorrow.
check your zip code. it has to be the right one for your address.
my playstation reset itself and deleted all of my information and i forgot what email address i usedd on my master account is there anyway to use my username (moot2boo) to figure out my email address i used?

My very first ever PSN ID was called “Rajie_Gill” and the email address I used for it at the time was **********
but at one point several months ago I ended up making several more accounts and email addresses to register them with and then i had to change the email addresses for them all, like i changed one email address to another one i already had, and on this account my cod4 10th prestige all gold guns multiplayer data was on there and i cant remember what i changed the sign in email address for that acount to..but i know the password and everything else…just not the sign in email address…is there any way i could get it back? i had call of duty world at war multiplayer data where i was like 7th prestige, 2 map packs and then my ps3 got formatted by mistake and the file was gone so i decided to jus live without it but a few weeks ago i signed into it, and reinstalled the game data utility update for the game, reactivated my psn acount and then installed the 2 map packs again and i had my exact data back the same way it was, i had my 7th prestige codw@w account bak with both map packs workin like normal, so i figure it would do the same for my cod4 acount…please anybody i hope u undertstand what it means to lose an acount that had 10th prestige level 55 all golden guns

hi im gettin new ps3 for christmas and im usin bt hub my dad set his up before thn and can i connect stil with anuther profile on ps3 network and do i need hisbt hub password for ps3 network cuz think he did it for internet access
hey im stuck at the SignUp ID part. it keeps throwing me error that the email or password incorrect. does it want my own personal working email or create a new valid email or what? and i took a look at the source code, is the if else statement correct? and when i click the submit button, it returns false. is that suppose to do that?

hi, to play modern day warfair do u have to be 18+ because it says my parently control wont accept it.

I Have The same problem with the address i sat for several hours now googleing and trying differnt combinations of my address which i have checked again and again and i have also emailed sony about if but the just sent me an email saying they’ll respond by 72 hours which they still haven’t. so the best i can guess from reading other blogs is that the server is busy

Hi all my son and I had the same problem, all we did was take out all spaces on the address between les say street name and avenue etc and no space on post and zip code. It WORKED!!! So no spaces guys…happy gaming !

Having the same problems. Tried taking the spaces out and still nothing.
Also having this problem. No addresses from my city will work at all (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc). Sent email to Sony. Awaiting reply.
if your in canada and trying to get and address to work it wont because the canadion network is down u have to use a usa address

Sooo frustrated!!! Should have got an Xbox for Chritmas instead of a PS3 cause Sony sucks.. Can’t create an account in Canada so I have to create one for the US?? That’s not a resoulution to the problem!!! I want a Canadian account, otherwise I can’t purchase with a credit card..
