    I have a bit of a problem, didnt find another article where I could put this so I’ll put it here…

    I recently got a HDTV and started to hook up my PS3…

    I went into “Settings” > “Display Settings” > “Video Output Settings” > “HDMI”

    I have the HDMI lead connected…

    The PS3 does some kinda scan of some sort and then returns to the original screen…

    I have checked the HDMI channels and it doesn’t appear, I’ve restarted both the TV and the PS3 and the same thing happens..

    It doesn’t give me the option of choosing between “Automatic” or “Custom” like it does in the book…

    Any suggestions?

    basicly my ps3 wouldnt read the discs of my games and i tried everything and then i reset my ps3 deleting all the data >:( can i get it back?
    and also im trying to sign in on my ps3 online account and its keeps saying my username or password is wrong and so i went on forgot password and i enter my date of birth didnt work then my dads and mums just incase i used theirs and it still said it was invalid so im stuck. if no one can help does anyone know the uk’s email adress so i can talk to them?

    My ps3 did exactly the same, wouldn’t read disks! but it would play games that were on my hard drive. you need to phone sony, don’t email them, and ask them to replace your ps3 for free, there are a lot of threads on the net about this problem and sony know about it. Good luck

      hi there,i have a friend with a playstation 3 and he is also having the same problem that his playstation 3 will not read any disk at all. now would u have the phone number for sony in australia here i would be greatful if you could suplly it as my friend would like to have his ps3 fixed as soon as possible.

      I’m getting it a lot too, cass. PSN just seems to be very unstable lately. Sometimes I can get it if I persist but then it usually drops out again shortly after.

    ive just paid sony £99 to repair my ps3 as it wouldnt read disks. i told them how i wasnt happy and they should do it for free as xbox are fixing the well known problem of the ring of death for free. i was told this could not be done so i had to pay, ive now had my ps3 returned and cant get the display settings to give me 720 graphics. i phoned sony on friday snd was told id get a call back, i phoned saturday lunch time and was told id get a call back. it isnow saturday evening they are closed and guess what i never got a call back. i cant belive i was stupid enough to pay £99 to get it repaired but im more annoyed that it has come back in a worse state!!!

      Do you have young children? You may think thats a strange response to your question but hear me out, im not a peado!!!! one of my kids decided to put a business card cd rom into my ps3 while there was a game in there and i couldnt eject it. Mine was under warranty but i had an idea of what my little devil had done so they would have charged me to fix it, so i took it apart myself to reveal the disc drive, then just took the offending disk out, put it all back together and it works fine! i found the instructions for dissasembly by googling “ps3 dismantle instructions”. it may not be that and if you are under warranty i suggest calling sony up and sending it back

    last night I purchased a game from the offical play station website for my son. It downloaded fine but we don’t know where it can be played from. We have gone up and down all the menue options but have failed to see it anywhere. We can see the saved games area and “call of duty 4″ is there but it will not play from here. The game dowloaded and then installed but my question is where? do I need to buy something so I can download games from your website and play them?

      jj truman, just to clarify: this is just a user run website and not associated with Sony/PSN :)

      What did you buy from the Playstation Store? You mention COD4; did you purchase the map pack? If so, the map pack is not a stand-alone game. It requires that you insert and load up the COD4 game and then you have effectively “unlocked” additional maps for when playing multiplayer online.

      aeris711: PSN accounts are currently free. I’ve not heard anything about Sony changing to paid subscriptions but I seriously doubt they ever will.

    Hi im on my 5th ps3 (they keep breaking) how many ps3′s am i allowed to put my account onto or is there no limit because i dont want to loose all my trophies and stuff! If somebody could clarify this for me it would be much obliged!?

      Hi Murph. you can put your ID on as many PS3′s as you want. However, you can only download content from teh PSN store onto 5 different PS3′s. In the event that you have PS3′s thats have broken, you can contact Playstation and get the downloads from them taken bak. My brother did this when his broke, but he had already downloaded content onto 4 other machines.

    Now here’s my question. Does anyone have or get the error message 80022A07 when checking their trophy content? My girlfriend cannot access her trophies through her own id, but instead has to have someone else compare them with her to see her trophies.

    My son has just bought his 2nd PS3 and is unable to connect to the internet, it has to do with some setting on the PS3, the Sony agent in Durban South Africa, states that we have to hand in our PS3 ( 4 weeks old) and they will give us a refurbished one , its this fair, they get a new one and we get an old one…does not amke sense—-can anyone tell me the contact details fro SONY PS3 in South AFrica

    there must of been a bad batch of play station 3′s as my friend here in australia here got one of them ps3′s as he has had his ps3 for some time untill it stopped reading the disk.and he contacted a place here called EB games in Queensland Australia here and they told him to contact playstation in australia as they EB games can’t do nothing about it.so i seen some one called cheap ps3 as he seems to had the same problem to so i told my firend to contact sony instead of playstation company as i hope he gets his next playstation 3 for free.

    Hi just wanted to say that insted of the people/robbers running away from the police in games why cant you change it to being us as the police run after the robbers so in some games kids will have some fun that is for there age for a change if you could not change it you could atleast make one for kids that has no blood or guns you could just try to get away pleas reply back as soon as posible thakyou.

    Hi guys, i have a problem with my ps3 browser:
    Recently I could enter via PS3 browser on south park studios or some other ”video” sites and watch clips without any problem, but suddenly one evening I entered on one site and my ps3 couldn’t play the video. The following note was: ”The application is not supported”. Before, I could watch clips on that site and now I can`t… Can you help me ? I have the newest software updated. Do I need to download some application or patch ?

      you shouldnt gave him your account he or she should of made his own file.
      you should remember your email and password erase your friends and make your self a new one first go on psn on your ps3 first click on what it says existing file and write down your email and pasword and that is all you are on your account. :D

    OMFG, y they did ps3 a cpu, i never had problem with my ps2 . playing so much online (thanks god) without any problem. i wanna just try baseball online on ps3. i still got my ps2,with call of duty 3, DNAS server still there for me. bad graphic and bugs, maybe… BUT I CAN PLAY THOU; i think we just got a trap by those billionnaries. good luck with PS4 bunch of thieves… TRAITOR, we dont do anything bad, just want to play what we love : a technology that we cant obtain… its so sad… so… i mean… bah… time to return in France at carrefour de lhomme mort; les Ormes
