Change your PSN avatar

When we created bob556677′s account he ended up with a pink avatar . The poor bloke wants a new one! Learn how to choose a new avatar for your Playstation Network account.

Before you begin

This guide assumes you have a PSN (Playstation Network) account already. If not, read our guide on signing up to PSN!

Steps to change your avatar

Sign in to your account (if not already), and choose Account Management from the “Playstation Network” menu
Select Account Management
Select Edit online profile
Select a new avatar from the many options
Create a profile. Select Continue
Online profile updated successfully. Select Continue
The new avatar icon is now showing in the XMB menu! (bob556677 is very happy with the MotorStorm logo.)

XBOX and WII you create your own caracter/avatar, sony have missed something here, actually to me my new PS3 seems dated already compared to the 360, having to fiddle and tweak everything to make it work properly, i think it is an unfinished product?

Sony should allow people too upload or use their own avatar piture. I dont like anyone of the ones available except fpr 3-4

Wow I just got my PS3 (writing this on it woot lol) and when I found out I couldn’t make my own avatar pic (was hopin to put an F430 on it) I was really pissed…not to mention that not all games support mikes dam it sony make an update and enable pics plz unless u wanna take nintendo’s position on online gaming and make eveything seem innapropriate, hell some NDS games even let you make your own pics (cough cough Mario Kart DS)

yeah man…i agree that all the avatar pictures that you can choose do suck ..they say the ps3 is for adults and with all the built in stuff..no doubt it sure is..but thats just stupid of sony to put little kid avatars…why not at least put decent ones you wont wanna change..like a pic of eazy-e lol that would be nice…

and i got the platinum trophy for gta4 as well once i got it..i deleted all the people i needed to get it off my friends list, then i deleted my profile data (that gay 47kb shit) and the 3gb game data utility for gta4
as well as cod4 cuz i finished it long ago with all gold guns dont even play it no more jus waitin to buy cod5 now…

just keeping the game data save files so i got my progress saved cuz its nice

lol yeah man they should or..even better let u upload any..like .jpg or whatever…and i just bought cod5 today it kind of sux compared to cod4 it seemz as if they put more effort into creating the single player mode than they did for multiplayer and i dont think there are any mute options like how cod4 got an update a long time ago to let u do that ..without a blutooth headset yet it makes me wanna just play the game with 0 volume if there are any peoplez voices comin outta my tv speakers especially if my familys around its annoying man str8 the f*k up

yeah man i realized that today when i was playing it felt kinda weird at first when i played it my first time cuz i wasnt used to it and i quit playin cod4 months ago but i was a pro at it and today i killed so many ppl in bootcamp using a different gun it just seems a bit more complicated at first but ur right man its like a game of the yr 1 thing thats kool is it shows how many players are online and everything thats useful but no matter wut..for search and destory the maps that are way to wide opened with lots of open space like in cod4 there was BOG, creek, etc. those had so much open space u could spot some1 from a mile away ..those r good for deathmatches or whatever but for S&D the maps that got buildings and a decent layout are perfect like how CRASH and CROSSFIRE were in cod4 but cod5 is definately a good game once u get the hang of it and the mute option in multiplayer i never knew about cuz u had to press Square to do it in cod4 it was X ..for ps3..nice game now

yeah and jst let it breakdown twice evry minute and pay £200000 to get it fixed me m8s had three brokendown 360s in ONE month PS3 is better plus 360s and ps3s have same games and psn is FREE unlike xbox live (£60 every 9 month)

actually yes – there has to be a way of putting your own avatar on to your profile – I’ve seen it on HOME – people running around with images – How?

Also you cant even put Wii and XBOX 360 in the same league as PS3 – PS3 can do everything Wii and XBOX can do and there is nothing on Wii that is similar to HOME. You can’t get a classic like Metal Gear Solid 4 and Grand Theft Auto 4 on the Wii – purely because its just not as good a system.

ok… i really dont like the wii at all… but that comment made u sound stupid, just because when u say the PS3 can do EVERYTHING the wii does, you’re wrong… The PS3 controls/controller are completely different. PS3 is a regular controller… Wii is motion senser… just makes you sound stupid. also you can buy games like that now on Wii i think. But i still like PS3 and HATE Wii… just thought i should throw that out there.

change the settings under account manegment avatar and set to none i think from my experience random avatars pop up the more games u complete and trophys u achieve but they are rarely pics to do with the game. ALS PLAYSTATION HOME IS LIKE A CLASSY VERSION OF HABBA HOTEL BUT U CAN ONLY USE THAT AVATAR ON HOME NOWHERE ELSE. AND THEY DONT LOOK ANYWERE NEAR AS GD AS U CN MAKE THEM LOOK ON 360 BUT THAT IS THE ONLY THING X BOX HAS THATS BETTA THAN PS3 I AGREE THAT SONY DO SUK 4 PUTTING UP SUM GAY KIDDIES AVATARS BUT U CN ALS GO TO THE PS3 STORE AND BUY AVATARS FOR 20 P BUT THEY ONLY HAV LIITLE BIG PLANET AND SUM OTHER GAY GAME AT THE MOMENT

i think you get new avatars by playing games and earning trophies went to change mine and had alot more choices after playing 2 games and the haze demo which gave me 2 haze avatars

To change the Avatar for an existing PlayStation®Network account:

1. Log into your PlayStation®Network account under PlayStation Network icon (PlayStation®Network) on the XMB™ home menu.

Currently, there is no way to upload your own custom avatar.

Ridicolous concept I tell ya!
I should of waited another year or two before commiting into getting a PS3. My last PS2 gaming was back in 2006 or so, but I don’t think I have missed out on anything spectacular about the new PS3, LOL!
You can’t even change the PSN Avatar.
Maybe because they have no team/people to work & go over the images that get uploaded & approved because their busy whining how they should make the PS4 Platform, HAHA. Bloody Japo’s (Japanese)… Oh no no dis look better. Ah maybe but no, we need sumthing add, oh oh, yeah maybe dis gud… Bla Bla-ETC!!!

And not just that, but my laptop & PS3 can’t pick-up each others Bluetooth/Wireless signals..

um Xbox is Microsoft. thats american. maybe they are built somewhere else, but the company is american. so…..it makes no diffrence where they are manufactured. Ford is all american but the F150 is built in mexico.
